You might remember Ann + Will’s engagement session… their wedding wast just as much fun. Married under the oaks surrounding Hamilton Twelve, the day was gorgeous and all the little details fell perfectly into place.
Special thanks to my second shooter, Amy Zumwalt.
Amy + Jonathan are getting married in October up in Dallas, but jumped at the chance to meet me here in Austin for a mini-vacation while shooting their engagement session.
They’re so much fun to be around… and like very much the same things I do… so we shot a bit a Laguna Gloria (because #art), then hit Vintage Heart Coffee (because #caffeine), then split for dinner and met back up at Bull Creek for hiking in the sunset (because #duh).
My job makes me cross paths with the coolest people with the best stories. All I can ever hope is that I do these stories justice. Roxanne + Ryan came to me via one of my favorite people on the planet, Melissa Zihlman… their kiddos have been BFFs since forever, and they’re some of the coolest kids I’ve ever met.
So this story is one of a courthouse wedding here in Austin, TX. Roxanne + Ryan live in the DFW metroplex, but the big party was happening here at the Shady Springs Party Barn, so the came down a day early and did that JP wedding thing that I love SO SO SO much.
Then the party… every single person in attendance loves these two so much, it’s unreal. Throw that precious redheaded little girl in the mix, and I’m overwhelmed with the feelings. And the band blew me away:
Do you guys remember last year on Decision Day? We were all so happy. Overjoyed, really. We took one more step toward equality. On that day, I gave away a wedding package… I wanted to celebrate that #lovewins, in the way I can, by documenting a day when two people commit to love each other forever, no matter what.
I couldn’t be happier to have witnessed Magen + Tye’s marriage ceremony… They had the River Haven in New Braunfels, TX for the weekend of wedding-and-party awesomeness… emotional doesn’t even begin to cover it…This year I’ve had the honor of being at so many “this is why I do what I do” kind of weddings… pretty sure I cried at least 3 times during their vows… and there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Thanks ladies, for trusting me to be the one with the camera on your day <3
Shooting a family member’s wedding is always something special… But Brittnie is like a sister to me. We grew up SO close… We have all the inside jokes, all the memories, all the embarrassing stories. Bill is one of the only people I can imagine could possibly balance her personality… at least I thought, until I saw him dirty dancing and realized he’s as loud and crazy as she is 😉
She had a dress. He had a kilt. She had a bouquet of magnolias… He had a boutonniere of thistle… it’s not every day you see a wedding comprised of kilts and cowboy boots, but Britt + Bill managed to make the perfect blend of Scotland + Texas.
Because Britti was my very first best friend, you’re going to see a bit more in this post than “just” a wedding day. This is the story of one of the most important people in my life getting married to her best friend… We danced, we drank, we made merry. There is a running joke about Britt getting married at the “Gator Farm.” (I say this to explain why my mother terrorized children with a stuffed alligator). I hope everyone has this much fun on their wedding day.
HUGE thanks to Amy Zumwalt for being there, keeping my head in the game, and seeing all the things so I could party too.
the way he looks at her.
the way she literally swoons over him.
the way they fit together, like they were cut from the same cloth and have found their other half.
I can’t wait for Bethany + Trace’s wedding.
So even before the beers, I had the most fun with these two. This is their life. The way he looks at her. The way she smiles at him. That’s all real, every day stuff for them. Theirs is the kind of love you hope for. What they show each other is what you wish for everyone to experience.
Be like Lindsey + Nathaniel. They’re doing it right 😉
Meet Magen + Tye. I’ll be shooting their wedding in New Braunfels next week. Yes, I know it’s February, and it’s supposed to be cold. But we live in Texas, so we shoot sun-drenched engagement portraits and play in rivers in the middle of winter. #lovewins
I don’t even have words about this one. The tulle skirt in the river. That’s it. Made my everything.
I can’t wait until ann + will’s wedding at Hamilton Twelve this spring.
we call them friends. family we chose. our people.
the people who come into our lives and stay, to celebrate the joy, and cry with you through the bad.
Mallory is an amazing wedding planner in the DFW area, and happened to ask me to come shoot a little of the get-together her sorority sisters planned. They came from across the country here to Austin, Tx because they matter to each other… that’s what you do for people you love… travel across the country to drink mimosas in a really cool airbnb rental and talk about life.
